The Story of the Cracked Pot Once upon a time, in a quiet village, a water bearer carried two large pots across his shoulders each day, hanging from a wooden yoke. One pot was perfect—shiny, strong, and whole. The other had a crack along its side. Each time the water bearer made his journey from the river back to the village, the cracked pot would leak, losing nearly half its water. After many months, the cracked pot began to feel ashamed. "I’m sorry," it said one day. "I spill so much water. I’m broken. I’m not doing my job properly." The water bearer smiled gently. "Tomorrow, I want you to pay attention to the path we walk." The next day, as they walked from the river to the village, the cracked pot noticed beautiful wildflowers growing only on one side of the path—its side. "Did you notice?" the water bearer asked when they arrived. "I planted seeds on your side of the path, knowing you would water them every day. For months, I’ve been able to decorate the village with flowers because of you." Moral of the Story: Even what feels broken in us can have purpose and beauty. Healing isn't always about being "fixed"—sometimes it's about seeing the unexpected ways we still offer value, and how our struggles can nourish growth in places we don't immediately see.
